These native grasses will add incredible beauty to your landscape. They will attract butterflies, bees, beneficial insects, and other wildlife. And once established, they will be a low maintenance garden or landscape. You can either make a small garden of just native plants or you can add the plants to your existing landscaping—most of the plants form tidy clumps, just like the perennials you might already have in your landscaping.

We are partnering with Karin and Dana Jokela of Sogn Valley Farm, which is located near Northfield, to offer these native plants. Karin is an ecologist and expert on pollinator conservation. Many of the seeds for these plants were collected from remnant prairie and oak savanna on their farm. They start all the plants in their on farm greenhouse. These plants are certified organic. They will be available starting Friday, May 10th for pickup at the farm. We are sorry but we are unable to ship plants.

Each plant is in a 2.5" pot. Typical plant spacing is 12"-18". Native plants do grow slowly at first. The plants that you get will be somewhat small and will not grow rapidly the first year. They use the first year to establish their root systems. It will take a couple of years for them to fill in all the space where you have planted them. All of these plants are perennials and should be long term plants for your garden or landscaping.

For detailed information about each plant, you can go to the Prairie Moon Nursery website. Prairie Moon has great information about each of these plants. It's much more than we can provide here and hopefully can help you decide which plants you would like. If you have questions, please feel free to email us.
