We're excited to offer dahlia tubers for the first time this year as part of our plant sale! I love dahlias because they have such diversity in color, shape and size and they will bloom all summer. I've wanted to offer dahlia tubers for a few years, but couldn't find a local source - until now. Luckily, our friends Emma and Jeremy of Rhubarb Botanicals just down the road in Iowa have been building up their dahlia supply and now have enough to sell. They grow, dig, divide, & store their dahlia tubers at their farm near Mount Vernon, Iowa. They use only organic-approved fertilizers and amendments when growing dahlias, never any chemicals or synthetics.

Tubers are the starchy root system of the dahlia plant. In our climate they don't reliably survive the winter in the ground so each fall they are dug up, washed, divided, and stored until it's time to replant them in the spring.

These dahlia tubers are sold as individual tubers, not in clumps. All tubers will have at least one viable eye (the growth point on the tuber). Dahlia tubers can vary widely in shape and size. Bigger is not necessarily better, and as long as each tuber has an eye, a strong neck, and a full body it will produce a healthy plant. The tubers will be available starting Friday, May 9th for pickup at the farm. We are sorry but we are unable to ship plants.

We are offering the following variety of dahlia tubers this year:

Caitlyn's Joy: It's challenging to capture the complex colors of Caitlyn's Joy! Raspberry pink blooms have fuchsia and lavender undertones and add a lovely splash of color in the garden. This dahlia blends well with other pinks and burgundies, bringing brightness to a bouquet. One of Emma's favorites!

Center Court: A classic white dahlia with exquisite texture. Center Court is highly prolific and sends up many flowers on sturdy stems, especially later in the fall. Plants tend to grow quite tall, reaching 5 feet by the end of the season.

Ivanetti: Has a rich red hue that borders on burgundy. This is a very prolific bloomer in the garden.

Robinhood: One of the earliest dahlias to bloom. Robinhood contains gorgeous shades of pink, coral, & peach. This dahlia is very versatile - looking great with orange and yellow tones as well as red and burgundy.

Teddy: Teddy's orange sherbet color that seems like it pairs well with every other dahlia! It looks great next to pink dahlias like Robinhood and with burgundies like Ivanetti.
