1 pound of seed potatoes translates to an 8 to 10 feet of row in your garden. You cut seed potatoes into 1.5oz to 2oz pieces with each piece having at least one eye. In general, smaller pieces will give fewer, larger potatoes and larger pieces will give more, smaller potatoes. Typical spacing is 1 foot per plant. This year we are offering the following varieties:
Oneida Gold: A newer variety from the Wisconsin Spudpro program. It has a bright yellow skin with slight netting and medium yellow flesh. It is similar in size, shape and eating qualities to Yukon Gold. It is much more resistant to many potato diseases than Yukon Gold in our Midwestern climate.
Dark Red Norland: An excellent early season potato with red skin and white flesh. They are a great choice to harvest as "new potatoes." Produces both boiler and baker size tubers. Narrow in-row spacing, around 6 inches, will produce high yields of smaller potatoes.
