Elderberries are an amazing native plant that produces beautiful white flowers that bees love and nutrient dense berries that can be used for juices, jams, jellies or elderberry syrup. Elderberries spread like raspberries and grow quite tall, six to eight feet. They grow well in all types of soil and can tolerate wetter areas, so can be a good choice for a wetter part of your property that other plants won't do well in. They can also be used as an edible hedge.
Each elderberry plant comes in a 3.5" pot and is ready to plant. These plants will be available starting Friday, May 12th at the farm.
This year we are offering the following varieties:
Ranch: Has been the most productive variety at our farm. Tends to grow upright and is not bushy. Grows well on less fertile soils and is one of the earliest ripening elderberry varieties.
Bob Gordon: Has a larger, sweeter berry than other varieties. Ripens a 7 to 10 days after Ranch.
