Looking for something new to grow in your garden this year? Garlic is easy and fun to grow. It's planted when nearly everything else is done growing (after the first frost in the Fall) and is amongst the first green to pop out of the ground in the spring. More information on how to grow garlic can be found here. Garlic loves to be mulched with straw or leaves.
We are offering certified organic garlic from Living Song Farm in Howard Lake, MN. This is hardneck porcelain garlic. The garlic is disease tested for Garlic Bloat Nematode, carefully cured for maximum storage and flavor retention, and inspected for Aster Yellows Phytoplasma at cleaning. A typical bulb will have 4 – 7 cloves. (Each clove is planted to produce a new garlic plant.)
Garlic Varieties:
Armenian is known for its large cloves and savory, rich-not-to-hot flavor. It's an extremely hardy cultivar for northern climates and consistently a big producer.
Music comes from Eastern Europe and is known for its zesty flavor. It's flavor is "perky with a smooth finish." A hardy northern cultivar it's likely the most popular variety amongst northern growers.
